Farming innovation, new techniques, technology trials
IGO R&D trials new agri-techniques, technologies and product innovations before they reach the field at scale, helping keep the group's farming and engineering methods current with what actually works. Successful trials from this team get handed to Agri Operations and Engineering for field-wide rollout.
Agri-Technique Trials
Runs controlled trials of new cultivation techniques — testing spacing, irrigation methods, pruning approaches and soil management practices to identify methods that improve yield and reduce input costs at scale.
New Variety Testing
Evaluates new crop varieties under IGO's field conditions — assessing yield potential, disease resistance, shelf life and market acceptance before recommending adoption to the Agri Operations team.
Technology Evaluation
Assesses new farming-tech products — sensors, drones, precision farming tools and biological inputs — under IGO's real operating conditions, generating evidence-based recommendations for or against adoption.
Product Innovation
Develops new value-added products and processing concepts from IGO's farm output — creating prototypes, running pilot batches and testing market reception before handoff to the relevant business team.
Field Prototype Development
Builds and tests physical prototypes of new farming systems, growing structures or processing solutions at pilot scale — working closely with Engineering to convert successful prototypes into deployable designs.
Knowledge Transfer
Documents every successful trial in detail and runs structured knowledge transfer sessions with Agri Operations and Engineering teams — ensuring the field benefits from every insight the R&D team generates.
